I’m participating in the Story A Day May 2019 challenge, and will be posting some of my attempts on my blog too. Would love to receive some feedback and what you thought 🙂
Today’s Story is called: Fly Luis!
I’m so hungry. I’ve had a long day and haven’t found food yet. Well, I like my food in the shape of a drink really.
I’ve been flying around a lot you see, working out those wings. Was getting fatter and worried with all the news of the deaths. It seems obesity is the major cause of all these deaths, according to the news and the doctors. It seems that food had become so easy to find lately, that our kind stopped having the need to fly longer distances to find fresh food. We could just hang out in one place and sit around and food would walk in right to our doorstep. We had started consuming a lot of junk food too, its because the way food was being grown – the raw materials mixed with all kinds of poison that would get mixed and finally that’s what we would consume. But we had become so busy watching Netflix and checking out Watsapp and emails that we didn’t have time to look for organic food sources, or find healthier food options. And so, all of these lifestyle changes have brought about all sorts of illnesses for the likes of us – obesity, cholesterol, diabetes and sometimes (I cringe to even think about this happening to me) – the inescapable death by a blow or being electrocuted, because we were too fat and too slow or too lazy to be able to quickly fly away.
And that is why, I decided, I wont be like the others. I’m going to make a life for myself, I’m going to give up drinking from the ones who drink other substances, I’m going to exercise and fly in search of better, younger and organically grown food sources, blog about it and inspire others to try and be healthier too. We owe this to ourselves.
Oh yes! Finally spotted some sweet, fresh food! Woo hoo!! I need to be careful though, not drink too much, because even juices and smoothies contain sugar and nothing should be overdone. Also, one shouldn’t consume all the food at one go now, should one? Savoring and taking small bites is the key.
I fly down slowly and hover, say my prayers, clean my hands and start drinking. Oh, this is bliss, I think to myself, so sweet and refreshing. Yummy..I shouldn’t get greedy now, should get going…and suddenly..SPLAT!! Oh no! The hand! I need to escape immediately! Fly Luis, fly! Save your life! This can’t be the end, not when I’ve been so good. But I had become greedy, and drank more than necessary. This is what happens when greed takes over. And that was my last thought, as the hand landed down on me, in another loud SPLAT.
“Darned mosquitoes..love trekking, but can’t stand the mosquitoes in the village. How the hell did this one even fly up this far?”, remarked a young trekker.
