Revisiting September 2018 – Bday, Goals, Socials

I had a really good month in September this year, and I wanted to use this post to write about all the things I did in September – my birthday celebrations, other outings, and how I fared in all the goals I had set up for myself in the beginning of the month 🙂 Again, this is one of those personal time capsule posts for me, that I can look back to next year or 10 years later, and reminiscence about.

How I fared with my personal goals:

  • Story A Day challenge – I completely failed at this. I had signed up intending to stick to writing a story a day, and I really had told myself that I’ll do it. I started well in the first week, but then I got really busy at work and chose reading in my spare time over writing, and then just fell behind the whole thing. So, I took a fellow writer and blogger’s suggestion and made it to writing just a story a week instead. That I managed 🙂img_6715
  • My 4 in 4 reading challenge, and personal books read: I did better than expected for the reading challenges. Managed to complete all four books as part of the YA book club reading challenge (although I think only one of the books I read as part of this challenge was YA..lol). Personally, I read a total of 7 books in September, and was very happy with my reading life. You can see a list of the books I read in September here
  • The 5:2 diet goal: Ugh, another fail! Lol..I should just never set myself up for dieting. It is a goal that I am bound to fail in, considering I am perpetually hungry and do some stress eating too. The first two weeks, I managed to stick to 600 calories every Tuesday and Thursday. I did lose 1.5 kgs by just doing this. But I also was really cranky on those days, tired, and ended up sleeping with a headache or feeling really hungry. Then, I just gave up- not my cup of tea 🙂img_6716

Birthday celebrations

I turned 36 years old last month! My gosh, I’m speeding towards my 40s..lol! But that didn’t stop me from pampering myself and from being pampered like a 6 year old, by my family and friends. I had an extended birthday, where I got to see a long waited play – Phantom of the Opera, at Her Majesty’s theatre in London, on the Saturday before my birthday- a surprise birthday present from my husband. On the day of my birthday, we took the day off, went for lunch, ice cream and a movie, cut a cake and opened some wine with friends in the evening- it was a lovely day:) I received so many amazing gifts from my sister, parents, in laws, friends and so many birthday wishes. Everyone made me feel really special and blessed 🙂 Here are some pictures from my celebrations to remember by..

Other fun outings with the family

I have been completely falling behind on my exercising and running and can’t seem to find the motivation to get back into the game. I hope I get back into something in October. We had two really great outings with my toddler- one to the nearby farm and another to Ipswich to meet our friends and their daughter. My daughter loved the time in the farm, feeding the goats and at one point even kissed a goat! hahah Here are some pictures from our trip to the farm and our weekend in Ipswich 🙂

So all in all,  a great September. Let’s see what October brings. I already have some good books to read and preparations to do for NaNoWriMo 🙂

How was your September?
